Another dose of winter set to arrive

Hunt County is expected to receive yet another dose of winter weather today, with another chance at frozen precipitation in the forecast.

But it wasn’t clear as of Monday night exactly what form the precipitation might take, or just how much ice the region might receive today.

The National Weather Service had placed Hunt County under a freezing rain advisory, starting at midnight and continuing until 6 p.m. this evening, for the potential of freezing rain, fog or drizzle during the period, which could make for icy roads and dangerous travel conditions. There were also chances of sleet and/or snow during the day.

The forecast was calling for a 50 percent chance of freezing drizzle in the area before noon, then a chance of rain, freezing rain or sleet during the afternoon, with little or no accumulation expected.

The high today was expected to rise just above the freezing mark at 33 degrees.

There was also a slight (20 percent) slight chance of rain, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight tonight, with a low around 22 degrees.

The latest encounter with wintry weather will be short lived, as the forecast was calling for mostly sunny skies with a high near 48 Wednesday.
