GREENVILLE — There should be plenty of time for watching football, preparing turkey leftovers or Black Friday shopping, as it will be a long holiday weekend for most.

The weather for anyone going over the river and through the woods on Thanksgiving Day should be just about perfect, although the trip home that may be a bit damp for some.

All State of Texas, Hunt County and City of Greenville government offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday.

IESI will not collect garbage or recycling on Thursday. Commercial garbage service normally collected on Thursday will be collected Friday or Saturday. Recycling that is normally collected on Friday will be collected on Saturday.

The Hunt County Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility will be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday.

Senior Center Resources and Public Transit (formerly the Hunt County Committee on Aging/The Connection Public Transportation Service) will also be closed both Thursday and Friday.

Banks and other financial institutions will be closed Thursday and reopen Friday.

The Herald-Banner business office will be closed Thursday, but will be open for normal business hours Friday.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for partly sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees for Thanksgiving Day in Greenville, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 50 degrees, with a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday morning.
