Police: Hot grease used as weapon in attack

GREENVILLE — A Greenville woman was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated assault, for allegedly using hot grease as a weapon.

Destinee Necole Jones remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail Tuesday morning, charged with one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 83 calls Monday, took six people into custody and filed 20 reports.

Jones was taken into custody Monday afternoon after she allegedly poured hot grease on the victim’s head.

Other arrests included two people each for assault causing bodily injury/family violence and outstanding warrants and one person for possession of drug paraphernalia.

District Court

— Crystal Olvera, 27, Celeste/Greenville, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury/family violence and was placed on two years of deferred adjudication probation, with 180 hours of community service and a $500 fine.

— Dawn Eugene Brown, 42, Commerce, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of evading arrest and was placed on five years of deferred adjudication probation with 120 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.

— James Earl Goodin, 31, Quinlan, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of evading arrest and was sentenced to four years in prison.
