More homes found destroyed as the result of last week's storms

Historic cemetery heavily damaged

GREENVILLE — Representatives with the office of Hunt County Emergency Management said they investigated a report Tuesday morning of more damage as a result of the April 3 tornado and found three additional homes and a travel trailer had been completely destroyed. The scene was along and near County Road 4415/Miles Lane, about a half-mile beyond what National Weather Service damage assessment teams had previously surveyed regarding the EF-1 tornado. The weather service was being notified of the damage. No additional injuries were reported.

Officials with McWright Cemetery said Tuesday the site, one of the oldest cemeteries in Hunt County, was also heavily damaged during the storms and they issued an appeal for assistance.

A story with photos is being prepared for Wednesday's Herald-Banner.
