Former Navy SEAL keynote speaker at banquet

GREENVILLE — The annual Hope Center of Greenville banquet will take place on Saturday, with former Naval Special Warfare Officer Clint Bruce as the guest speaker.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Dallas, Bruce was a standout football player at the United States Naval Academy lettering for four years and named captain of the ’96 Aloha Bowl Champion team.

After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Bruce had brief stints in the NFL before entering the elite Navy SEAL community. Upon completing BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training, he reported to SEAL Team 5 where he had the opportunity to deploy in various positions of command and leadership with three consecutive SEAL Platoons.

Bruce is the founder and president of Trident Response Group, a global intelligence and advisory group headquartered in Dallas. He lives in Dallas with his wife and two children.

The meal will be prepared by Chef Lucas Kiowski and Greenville ISD Culinary Class. The program will feature patriotic music by the low local low brass group, Trombonium Sinfonium, as well as music by Jill Eng.

“Our theme will focus on patriotism, especially honoring military veterans,” Hope Center Director Jerry Speight said. “We look forward to having a number of veterans with us for the program.”

The Hope Center is a non-profit organization that focuses on reaching out to the underprivileged and the needy. They provide lifeskills training in their computer labe every week at no charge, classes that have helped many local individuals find work.

Donations for the meal will be welcomed and an opportunity will be given to support the work of the Hope Center. The dinner will be at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, located at 2615 Crockett Street and will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
