Clothe A Child seeking volunteers

GREENVILLE — Volunteers are hard at work on the annual Clothe A Child campaign that provides $50 Walmart shopping vouchers for local children in need of winter clothes.

Clothe A Child serves children in the Greenville, Commerce, Celeste, Greenville Phoenix and ECI school districts. More than 1,000 students registered for the shopping event this year in GISD alone.

“We are really excited about this year’s event on Dec. 3 and 4,” event organizer Evan Manskey said.  If you’d like to share in the joy and excitement of this year’s shopping event, please call 903-455-7414 to volunteer. We need volunteers to help guide the families during their shopping time and ensure they pick out approved clothing items while staying within budget. It takes many volunteers to ensure the program runs smoothly each year. We rely greatly on the generous citizens of Hunt County and appreciate all the ways in which help is offered.”

One hundred percent of donations go to providing clothing to children, thanks to independent fund-raising and volunteer work.

Selected families will receive $50 to purchase clothing at Walmart during a shopping event, held on Dec. 3 and 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m.

A parent, guardian, or close adult relative must be present in order for children to be allowed to shop.

“To serve all children who have registered, we need $25,000,” Manskey said. “We are working hard fund raising now and appreciate any support you can provide. Every $50 donated allows us to serve another child in Hunt County.”

Donations are tax deductible and can be sent to Clothe A Child, P.O. Box 224, Greenville, 75403. Checks should be made payable to Clothe a Child.

To make a cash donation, or to volunteer for a shopping day, contact the United Way of Hunt County office at 903-455-7414 or visit them at 2607 Lee Street.
