Several activities slated for GHS campus

GREENVILLE — There will be lots to do Saturday morning on the campus of Greenville High School.

Destination ImagiNation (DI) is hosting a 5K Fun Run, a one mile walk/run and a fall festival and a chili cook-off. It is also the date of the fourth annual Drive One 4 Ur School event.

The 5K Fun Run and one mile walk/run will raise funds to support the Greenville Independent School District’s DI teams.

During Saturdays festival DI will have games and DI-type activities set-up for children; there will be a dunking booth where several of Greenville ISD principals will risk getting soaked; The Robowranglers will be selling VEX robots and T-shirts and will have their latest robot on display; the Lion Pride Band will be selling hot dogs, chips and drinks; Lamar Elementary will be selling water and soda; and L.P. Waters Early Childhood Center will be selling baked goods.

A chili cook-off is also part of the event. Organizers say fun prizes will be awarded to the Judge’s Best and Second Best Chili and the People’s Choice Ballot winner.

During Drive One 4 Ur School, for every person over the age of 18 who test drives a Ford vehicle, SouthWest Auto Mall will donate $20 toward the district. It is hoped the event will raise up to $6,000 for the Project Graduation program and Greenville ISD campuses.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the walk starting at 9 a.m. and the Fun Run beginning 30 minutes later. The Fall Festival is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Additional information about the event can be found at beaudifygreenville.org.
