The Corporation for Cultural Diversity of Greenville, Texas, the Greenville Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (GIMA) and the Greenville Branch of the NAACP are inviting all area churches, schools, civic and community group leaders to join in the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration.

The events will begin Saturday with a 5K “Run Against Racism,” starting from Market Square at the intersection of Lee and Bois d’Arc Streets in downtown Greenville. Registration for the event will be conducted on site starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, or online at www.inparksweplay.com.

The event will begin at 8 a.m., and can be a race, a run or a walk, depending on the entrant. There is a $25 entry fee, with prizes to be awarded.

The Annual MLK Parade is scheduled to begin from Market Square at 10 a.m. Saturday, with staging one hour earlier.

Following the parade, at 11 a.m. Saturday, there will be a program celebrating King at Municipal Auditorium, 2821 Washington Street in Greenville.

On Sunday, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. worship service, sponsored by the GIMA, will be open to the public beginning at 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 Joe Ramsey Boulevard.
