New store to be given go-ahead

GREENVILLE — The City of Greenville will soon be home to a new convenience store, built at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

Director of Public Works Massoud Ebrahim said representatives from QuikTrip will be given the go-ahead today on plans for their Greenville location.

“We have a pre-construction meeting at 1 p.m.,” Ebrahim said. “We’re going to give them the green light.”

QuikTrip is wanting to build a store on vacant property at the northeast corner of Interstate 30 and Business Highway 69.

In October 2012, the company asked for and had previously received permission to exceed the maximum allowable height for a free-standing sign along Interstate 30; to build an additional free-standing sign along Business Highway 69 and to exceed the maximum allowable height for a free-standing aign along Business Highway 69.

Ebrahim said the store is expected to open by this fall.

“It is going to take about six months,” he said.
