All of the Greenville Independent School District campuses have been placed on external lock-down, according to GISD. Students and staff will remain inside for the rest of the school day. GISD received word that two inmates from Hopkins County Jail in Sulphur Springs had escaped, and were dressed in plain clothes. According to GISD, there is no indication that they are headed to Greenville.

Commerce ISD campuses have been placed on modified lockdown as well.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said at least one of the escaped inmates may have local connections.

"I think one of them does, in the Lone Oak area," Meeks said. "We are checking on that right now."

Meeks said some of his deputies are assisting the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.

We will release more information as it becomes available.
