Moore relative issues statement of thanks

Family members of Alicia Moore are expressing their gratitude to investigators involved with the probe into the Greenville teenager’s murder.

Shmyrae Perkins, Moore’s aunt on her father’s side, sent a notice to the Herald-Banner following the arrest this week of Michael Vincent Moore.

“On behalf of the Perkins family, we would like to thank the Greenville Police Department, Van Zandt County, Texas Rangers and FBI for your diligence in the investigation of the Alicia Moore murder case,” she said. “You have lifted a heavy burden and given us peace of mind. We have trust and faith that you will take the necessary steps to solve this case and not allow it to go cold.”

Shmyrae Perkins is the sister of Roy Perkins Jr., Alicia Moore’s father.

Jessica Byrd of Greenville has acted as the spokesperson for the Moore side of the family.

Michael Moore, 57, remains in custody at the Van Zandt County Jail in lieu of $10 million bond, charged with one count of capital murder in connection with the November 2012 death of Alicia Moore, 16. There was no word Thursday as to the scheduling of any court hearings in the case.

The offices of Van Zandt County Chris Martin, Van Zandt County Sheriff Michael Lindsey Ray and Greenville Chief of Police Daniel J. Busken again issued a statement Thursday morning, indicating the investigation was ongoing and that the investigators would continue to “ restrict the release of sensitive information” in the case.
