No reward to be paid in Alicia Moore murder case

GREENVILLE — A reward will not be paid in connection with the arrest this week of a suspect in the murder of Alicia Moore.

A reward of up to $25,000 had been offered through Hunt County Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for Moore’s death. Michael Vincent Moore, Alicia Moore’s uncle, was taken into custody in Grand Prairie Monday night and is now being held in the Van Zandt County Jail in lieu of $10 million bond on a charge of capital murder.

Greenville Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Chris McCaslin, who is the liaison for Hunt County Crime Stoppers, said a check with detectives in the case revealed Michael Moore’s arrest was the result of “self-initiated investigations” and not due to anyone from the public offering information.

“None of the Crime Stoppers tips lead to the arrest,” McCaslin said. “No reward will be paid.”

The reward fund of up to $25,000 was established through $5,000 contributions each from Hunt County Crime Stoppers, the Hunt County and Van Zandt County District Attorney's Offices, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office and Xerox, where Moore's mother, Aretha Moore is employed.

McCaslin said the Crime Stoppers portion was coming from the organization’s own funds.

“The only money we have is the money from Xerox,” McCaslin said, adding he will be contacting the company soon. “I’m going to offer them their money back. That is their money, not ours.”
