UPDATE: Arrest comes six months after Alicia Moore's disappearance

GREENVILLE — A suspect was arrested Monday night in connection with the murder of Alicia Moore, six months after the Greenville teenager disappeared a short distance from her home.

Michael Vincent Moore, 57, Alicia Moore’s uncle, was taken into custody at a Grand Prairie residence at around 9 p.m. Monday, by officers with the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenville Police Department and the Texas Rangers. Michael Moore was charged on one count of capital murder on an arrest warrant from Van Zandt County and was transported to the Van Zandt County jail in Canton. It was not known whether he has been formally arraigned on the charge or whether bond has been set in the case.

No additional information was being released as of 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Greenville Police Department is not expected to conduct a press conference today and it was not immediately known whether Alicia Moore’s family or the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office intended to conduct a press conference or issue a statement about the case today.

Moore was last seen getting off of a school bus at the intersection of Walnut and Bourland Streets in Greenville on Nov. 2, 2012.  Her body was found on Nov. 6, 2012 along FM 47 in Van Zandt County.

Investigastors took DNA samples from Moore’s family members, which Greenville Police Chief Daniel J. Busken said was part of the overall investigative process.
