Crowning glory at Fair

GREENVILLE — Tonight’s schedule at the Hunt County Fair is expected to feature a crowning achievement, with the naming of the 2013 Fair Queen and Princess.

Broilers and goats will be on display during today’s livestock shows, Fair visitors can get a discount on ride armbands by donating items of food for the hungry and two live music events will also be presented.

With the theme of “Building New Traditions”, the 2013 Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show is being presented by Innovation First.

Broilers will be checked-in starting at 7:30 a.m. today, with the Broiler Show, sponsored by Century 21 Patterson Group, starting at 8 a.m.

The Market Goat Weigh-In is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., with entries for the Baked Goods Contest due at 10 a.m. today.

The gates, exhibit buildings and midway open at 5 p.m., with the Queen and Princess Contest scheduled for 6:30 p.m., the same time as the Jr. Market Goat Show gets underway.

Tonight’s concerts include Tyler and the Tribe starting at 6 p.m. and Somebody’s Darling starting at 8:30 p.m.

It is also Food Bank Day. Visitors who bring two non-perishable food items to the Fair can save $5 on a ride armband.

The 2013 Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show continues through Saturday.

Admission to the Fair is $8 for adults and $2 for kids.
