Forecast: County in store for wet couple of days

Hunt County is in store for a wet couple of days today and Thursday.

Winter is expected to make a return appearance today, with the potential for severe weather early Thursday morning.

After sunny skies and a high of 61 degrees in Greenville Tuesday, the National Weather Service forecast was calling for rain and possibly a thunderstorm to develop during the early morning hours today, with a low near 40, which also pretty well described what was expected for the rest of today, with a 90 percent chance of rain and a high of only 45. Winds could gust out of the east at up to 25 mph.

The rain is forecast to continue through the night and then intensify early Thursday morning, with a low of around 43 degrees, but rising to about 56 degrees by dawn Thursday.

A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service indicates that severe weather is possible between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats.

Locally heavy rainfall could also result in some minor flooding issues.
