A wet, wild and chilly middle of the week in the forecast

GREENVILLE — Hunt County could be in for a wet and wild middle of the week, starting early Tuesday morning and continuing through Thursday morning. Wednesday will be much cooler and there may also be a few powerful thunderstorms and even the potential for severe weather as part of the mix.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies today and a high near 60.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight, and a lowe near 40.

Showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm Wednesday, with a high near 47 and winds gusting out of the east as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent during the day and 60 percent during the night, especially heading into early Thursday morning, as the temperature rists to about 56 degrees by dawn Thursday.

There is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon Thursday with winds gusting up to 25 mph.

A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service indicates that severe weather is possible between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats. Locally heavy rainfall could also result in some minor flooding issues.
