UPDATE 1:08 p.m. — The driver of the Chevy Silverado that died in a traffic accident early this morning has been identifed as Landon B. Dyer, 28, of Sulphur Springs. Texas DPS is continuing their investigation into the incident, but State Trooper Kyle Bradford said that there is some indication that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler that collided with Dyer is in stable condition, but his name has not yet been released.
ORIGINAL STORY — An early morning head-on-collision on Highway I-30 Eastbound left one driver dead and a second driver in the hospital.
According to State Trooper Kyle Bradford, the driver of a 2010 Chevy Silverado was driving on the wrong side of the highway when it collided with an 18-wheeler driven by an employee of D.A.T., an Alabama-based company. The driver of the Silverado was pronounced dead on the scene, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to Hunt Regional Hospital, and his status is unknown at this time.
The accident occured around 2:30 a.m.
