Congressional candidates begin lining up to run

GREENVILLE — The start of filing is still months away, but multiple candidates have already made formal announcements that they intend to run for the U.S. House of Representatives next year.

Incumbent U.S. Rep Ralph Hall of Rockwall and Lou Gigliotti of Wylie have indicated they will be seeking the Republican nomination for the Congressional District 4, which includes both Hunt and Rockwall counties, during the 2014 GOP primary. Gigliotti has faced Hall during the past two primaries. Brent Lawson of Van Alstyne and Tony E. Arterburn Jr. of Rockwall have also launched campaigns seeking the Republican Party nomination.

No Democratic Party candidates have yet announced their intentions concerning the 2014 primary election.

November 9 is the first day candidates can formally file for a spot on the March 4, 2014 primary election ballot. December 9 is the filing deadline this year.

Early voting for the primaries is scheduled Feb. 18-28, 2014.
