Splash Kingdom breaking ground today

GREENVILLE — It may feel like winter, but City of Greenville officials and representatives of Splash Kingdom plan to break ground today on a water park which will be open in time for the summer.

The ceremony to officially start work on the aviation-themed park is scheduled for 3 p.m. at its future location at 6501 Interstate 30.

The Splash Kingdom Greenville Park is expected to be open by early June.

Attractions at the park will include a wave pool, lazy river and several water slides. The children’s area will allow children to climb up into an airport control tower and slide down the wing of an airplane or the cargo area of a chopper.

General admission prices will mirror Splash Kingdom Canton ($17-$22) and season passes will go on sale as soon as a specific opening date is established.

Splash Kingdom is also expected to serve as the anchor for the Greenville Towne Center project along the Interstate 30 frontage road, as multiple restaurants are reportedly interested in building near the water park.

More information about the new Splash Kingdom, Greenville park is available on the company’s web site at www.splashkingdomwaterpark.com, and at the local park’s Facebook page at www.facebook.comSplashkingdomwaterparkGreenville.

Splash Kingdom is also hiring for the park in Greenville, as well as the parks in Canton and Hudson Oaks, and in Shreveport, La.
