FISH has heat relief for Hunt County residents

GREENVILLE — The head of one local service agency is mystified that no one has been asking about the agency’s program to assist residents in keeping cool or paying their electric bills”.

“We didn’t have anybody ask for assistance last month,” said Wally Jeffers, executive director of Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH) in Greenville.

FISH has air conditioners available for at least some area residents, as well as fans and payment assistance for others.

The air conditioners are available for customers of TXU. For those county residents served by GEUS or FEC, Jeffers said he has fans which he can provide. GEUS and FEC also provide funds, which are distributed by FISH, to aid customers with paying their electric bills.

Between April 2012 and March of this year, FISH had distributed more than $44,500 in electrical assistance.

Additional information is available at the FISH office at 2805 King Street in Greenville or by contacting the agency at 903-455-0545 or through e-mail at info@hcsmfish.org.
