Two arrested following burglary, chase into Royse City

GREENVILLE — Two people were arrested as result of a chase from Greenville into Royse City early Monday morning, after the suspects were believed to have burglarized a local business.

The Greenville Police Department indicated officers were dispatched at around 2 a.m. Monday to an alarm at Louis Powersports, 6309 Interstate 30. Arriving units observed a tan Cadillac sedan, bearing a Texas temporary tag exiting the parking lot.

Units reportedly attempted to stop the vehicle at the service road and Interstate 30 but the driver refused to yield and fled, entering westbound along the interstate. The occupants were allegedly observed throwing items taken from the burglary out of the vehicle at about the 86 mile marker.

A Texas Department of Public Safety unit deployed spikes which were run over by the suspects at the 76 mile marker. The vehicle was reported to have continued at a high rate of speed until the damage caused by the spikes forced the vehicle off the interstate and onto the service road in Royse City. The vehicle came to a stop in the grass at the McDonalds, in Royse City.

The driver and two other people exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver, identified as Delishia Laquette Francis, was taken into custody almost immediately. A second person, Willie Earl Chumbley II, was taken into custody after a short search. Francis was charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest/detention using a vehicle and was also found to have outstanding warrants from the parole board in Dallas County, and Tarrant County.

Willie Earl Chumbley II was charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest/detention and was also found to have an outstanding parole warrant.

The third suspect was still at large Monday evening.

Both Francis and Chumbley were taken to the Hunt County Jail.
