Three of the four suspects arrested last week and charged with dog fighting in Greenville are seeking to have attorneys appointed.
Dakalin Edwards, 18; Caunte Howard, 17; and Adrian Obrian Jackson, 27, all of Greenville, have each filed writs of habeas corpus from the Hunt County Jail, where they were being held in custody Friday evening. Edwards and Jackson have hearings on their writs scheduled this morning in the 354th District Court. Howard has a hearing on his writ this morning scheduled in the 196th District Court.
A fourth suspect charged in connection with alleged dog fighting, Kavante Davis, 17, also of Greenville, was not listed in custody at the jail as of Friday.
Edwards and Davis were arrested July 23. Warrants for Jackson and Howard were issued July 16 on charges of dog fighting in the 3700 block of Polk Street.
Howard was already in custody at the jail, indicted earlier this year on an unrelated charges of aggravated robbery and burglary of a habitation. Howard has interim hearings scheduled Wednesday on the robbery and burglary indictments.
