Multiple charges filed in injury to a child case

GREENVILLE — A Quinlan woman has been indicted on multiple counts of injury to a child, for allegedly harming three children in December.

Chelsea Nichole Mosley, 25, entered not guilty pleas during an arraignment hearing in the 196th District Court Wednesday to one indictment with two counts of injury to a child by an act and one count of injury to a child by omission, and another indictment with one count of injury to a child by omission. Judge Steve Tittle accepted the pleas and scheduled a May 16 interim hearing on all of the counts.

The indictments alleged Mosley acted alongside Emmett Daehn on Dec. 17, 2012, to have injured one male and one female child of less than 14 years of age, by fracturing the ribs of each of the children. The same indictment alleged Mosley failed to provide adequate medical care and/or nutrition for the female child whose ribs were reported fractured.

The second indictment alleged Mosley acted alongside Daehn on the same date by failing to provide adequate medical care and/or nutrition to a second male child of less than 14 years of age.

Daehn has been indicted on one count of injury to a child by an act, has pleaded not guilty and has an interim hearing set for May 8.

The injury to a child by an act counts are first degree felonies, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from five to 99 years to life in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000. The injury to a child by omission charges are third degree felonies, punishable by a maximum sentence upon conviction of from two to 10 years in prison and an optional $10,000 fine.

Both Mosley and Daehn remained in custody Thursday in the Hunt County Jail.
