Answering questions about health care act

GREENVILLE — While it may provide benefits to many, the Affordable Health Care Act has also raised questions among the public as its implementation draws closer.

As such, Hunt County Judge John Horn and the Hunt Memorial Hospital District have scheduled a free Health Insurance Marketplace information session for 2 p.m. Monday inside the Greenville Municipal Auditorium, 2821 Washington Street.

The presentation is open to the public.

Martha Blain, executive director of the Community Council of Greater Dallas (CCGD) is the keynote speaker for the event. The CCGD is the organization which Horn said will serve as the navigator for a 16-county area around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

The CCGD and the Hunt Regional MHMR have received federal funding to assist local agencies in accessing and acquiring basic health insurance requirements.

The seminar is expected to include discussions on legal provisions, consumer protections, how to purchase insurance, how to enroll, types of plans being offered, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and getting help to pay for insurance.
