There will be more flames and more roaring during the next two weeks, as Atmos Energy is scheduled to conduct additional routine maintenance tests on its high pressure pipeline that runs from Rockwall County through Hunt and Hopkins counties.
Residents who live near the GEUS power plant at 4201 Power Lane in far north Greenville will again likely hear a roaring sound and see a column of fire at the plant during the tests scheduled during the morning hours Tuesday and Thursday, as well as October 22 and October 24. The maintenance work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. each day.
The flame itself will be about 30 feet in the air and precautions will be taken to assure safety at and around the flaring location by Atmos Energy personnel.
An announcement from the company indicated it had notified power plant personnel and residents in the immediate neighborhoods, as well as Interim City Manager Massoud Ebrahim, local law enforcement and the Greenville Fire Department.
