Council delays overlay zoning vote

GREENVILLE — The Greenville City Council wants to wait just a little longer before making any final decision about a proposed overlay zoning district for the Interstate 30 corridor.

Mayor Steve Reid noted Tuesday that he and two other Council members only recently came on board.

“I want to make sure we are ready to vote on this,” Reid said.

Although the district was first proposed some eight years ago, was included under the Small Area Plan passed last year and has been the subject of two public hearings and three workshop meetings since October, Council member Velma Del Bosque-Hobdy wondered if a final workshop should be conducted for the benefit of the business owners along the corridor.
