Gearing up for motorcycle ride

WOLFE CITY — Tony Aguilar, president of the Wolfe City Chamber of Commerce, wants to recreate the family atmosphere that made last year’s Wolfe City Country Cruise Motorcycle Ride so successful.

The Wolfe City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 100-mile bike ride beginning in Wolfe City and going through Hunt, Lamar, Delta and Fannin counties Saturday  beginning at 9:45 a.m., with the Hunt County Veterans Honor Guard presenting the colors at the event.

According to Aguilar, the drive will be a pleasant one.

“We will drive by a sunflower farm, a cattle ranch and corn fields,” he said, adding that riders will get a chance to view the various sights of East Texas.

Aguilar said the event is great for both the city and for the patrons coming in from all over the state.

“This is an event for good people that want to have a good time,” he said. “Come and have some good small town fun and atmosphere.”

It was officially declared Motorcycle Week during the Wolfe City City Council meeting on Monday.

Aguilar said he appreciates the support from the city and hopes to see between 125-150 riders on Saturday.

“This is a great event for Wolfe City,” he said. “I look forward to the continuing support. We are incorporating Wolfe City as an oasis for riders.”

The oldest rider and person with the oldest bike will receive awards at the event.

The cost will be $20 per bike entry, and Aguilar said free chili, drinks, arts and craft, and entertainment will be provided at the event.
