Severe storms possible late today, into tonight

GREENVILLE — Here is the latest update from the National Weather Service:

 

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.



THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON MAINLY WEST OF A HEARNE...TO CORSICANA...TO PARIS LINE...THOUGH HIGHEST COVERAGE WILL BE WEST OF A SHERMAN...FORT WORTH...GATESVILLE LINE

LATER IN THE DAY. A FEW STORMS LATER THIS AFTERNOON COULD BECOME SEVERE WITH DAMAGING WINDS TO BETWEEN 60 AND 70 MPH...LARGE HAIL AND POSSIBLY A FEW ISOLATED TORNADOES.



STORM CHANCES WILL INCREASE AND OVERSPREAD ALL OF NORTH TEXAS THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES EAST/SOUTHEAST. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL BEING THE MAIN THREATS. ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE THROUGH MID EVENING.



ALTHOUGH THE THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER IS FOR ALL OF NORTH TEXAS. LOCATIONS WEST OF A LAMPASAS...TO DALLAS...TO SHERMAN LINE WILL SEE THE BEST CHANCES OF SEVERE WEATHER BEFORE MIDNIGHT.

OVERNIGHT...LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL AND MINOR FLOODING WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE AS INDIVIDUAL STORMS FORM INTO A STORM COMPLEX ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF OF THE AREA.





.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.



THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL LINGER SOUTH OF A GOLDTHWAITE TO ENNIS TO EMORY LINE SUNDAY MORNING. SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED.
