Following the money

Candidate campaign finance reports due this week

GREENVILLE — Reports are scheduled to be released this week, detailing where each of the candidates running in the March Democratic and Republican Party primary elections obtained the money for their campaigns, and where they have spent the funds so far.

The first round of campaign finance reports from candidates running in Hunt County races are due by Wednesday in the office of Hunt County Elections Administrator Mina Cook. Candidates running in races covering multiple counties file with the Texas Ethics Commission. Those reports are available for viewing online at www.ethics.state.tx.us.

The reports will reveal the names of the largest contributors to each candidate’s campaign, the amounts donated and the dates they were contributed. The reports also list all of the expenses made by the candidates during their campaigns.

The primaries will be held on March 4. Early voting is scheduled February 18-28.
