This weekend, the backstreet of downtown Greenville get its time to shine.
The annual Backstreet Bash is scheduled Saturday, although events begin Friday night and spill out into Sunday, centered on Jordan Street, the back street behind Lee Street. Saturday will offer music, arts and crafts and fun for humans , as well as their four-legged friends.
An IBCA-sanctioned BBQ cookoff starts Friday night, while the “Battle Of The Titans” Crossfit training competition is set for both Saturday and Sunday.
The Backstreet Bash is also scheduled to include weenie dog races, a pet talent show, a petting zoo, pony rides, pets available for adoption from local and DFW area animal rescues and pet supplies, the Dog House Building Contest and the “Hot Diggity Dog Jog”, as well as and the second annual “Backstreet Boil” crawfish (and shrimp) boil at the Landon Winery.
Greenville Antique Boutique, 2310 Stonewall, is hosting a spring gardener’s workshop at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Saturday.
McGruff the Crime Dog will be on hand, as well as police dog demonstrations from Greenville’s K9 police unit, agility demonstrations and other active canine events.
There will be live music provided throughout the day Saturday, with the lineup including Marty Phillips with the Quinlan Ford Jazz Band, Ricky Nelson and Friends, 5th Street with Roy and Owen Pierce, Shaun Michaels, Diamond Jack - Birthright Blues Project, Alias Charlie Smith and Krissy Green.
