GREENVILLE — Organizers of this year’s Downtown Christmas Parade in Greenville must be hoping that the third time is the charm.

The twice postponed parade will not have to worry about any weather concerns, as conditions are expected to be as perfect as it gets this time of year. However, there won’t be any pre-parade music scheduled tonight.

The  parade, with the theme of Songs of Christmas, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Staging for the parade will be on Jordan Street, with vehicles entering Jordan from Johnson Street, facing eastward. Staging will begin at 2 and conclude at 6 p.m.

Judging will begin at 5:30 p.m. and plaques will be presented for the Grand Marshal’s Award (first place overall), Mayor’s Award (second place overall), Theme Awards, Spirit of Christmas Awards and Automobile Awards.

The parade begins at the corner of Bois D’ Arc and Lee Streets, travels westward on Lee, south on Wright Street, east on Washington Street and finishes at Stonewall Street, turning south to exit downtown. Marching units, equestrian entries and all vehicles not legal for normal street traffic will continue east on Washington to Market Square.

No entry fee is required to participate in the parade. All floats must have holiday lighting and all entrants must be pre-registered at www.ci.greenville.tx.us/parade.
