New A&M-Commerce leaders approved by board of regents

COMMERCE A new provost/vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college of arts and sciences for Texas A&M University-Commerce have been approved by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

Dr. Larry Lemanski, currently senior vice president for research and strategic initiatives at Temple University, will start work as the new provost on July 13.

Dr. Christine Evans, chair of the geosciences department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, is the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and also starts July 1.

Randy Van Deven, director of major gifts at Tennessee Technological University, will join A&M-Commerce as the new vice president for institutional advancement on July 13.

"We are very fortunate that these three gifted individuals will be joining Texas A&M University-Commerce this summer," A&M-Commerce President Dan Jones said.

"All three were selected after national searches that produced superb pools of candidates. The extraordinary high quality of the applicants indicates that A&M-Commerce is a great place to work, and that people want to be part of what we are doing here," Jones said.

Evans received a Ph.D. in soil genesis and morphology from the University of Wyoming and is a soil science specialist.

Van Deven is a professional engineer who has nine years of fundraising experience at Tennessee Technological University
