A&M-C athletes heading to NCAA championships

Four members of the Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field team were among the 620 participants announced on Tuesday for the upcoming 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Senior Lyndon Wyse and junior La’Shara Jefferson will be making their second-consecutive appearance in the triple jump and in the discus, respectively.

In the javelin, junior Sunny Henderson and senior Leslie White will also join Wyse and Jefferson.

In the latest performance lists, Jefferson is seventh, White and Henderson both rank 11th and Wyse is 14th in their respective events.

This marks the seventh-consecutive year that A&M-Commerce has been represented at the NCAA

Championships. The NCAA Championships will be held May 21-23 on the campus of Angelo State University.
