Jones named president at Texas A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE — Dan R. Jones will take over July 1 as the new president of Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Texas A&M University System regents chose Jones as the 11th president of the East Texas school during a meeting by telephone Wednesday.

Jones currently is provost and vice president for academic affairs, chief student affairs officer and English professor at Texas A&M International University in Laredo.

Texas A&M-Commerce has more than 8,800 students and a staff of more than 1,100.
