A&M-C'S POOL RECEIVES DISTANCE LEARNING ASSOC. AWARD

Dr. Rodger Pool, senior lecturer at Texas A&M University-Commerce, has been inducted into the Texas Distance Learning Hall of Fame for 2009.

Pool received the honor at the Texas Distance Learning Association Annual Conference April 6-9 in Corpus Christi.

The Texas Distance Learning Hall of Fame Award recognizes distance learning practitioners or advocates whose careers are characterized by exceptional commitment, outstanding achievements, and enduring impact.

Pool, who teaches and directs the Center for Community College Education in the A&M-Commerce Department of Educational Leadership, said he is grateful to the members of the Texas Distance Learning Association for this honor.

He said the Hall of Fame Selection Committee had a difficult task in selecting a winner because of the "outstanding qualifications of the other nominees."

Former President of Eastfield College in Mesquite, Pool earned bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from New Mexico State University.

Pool has won numerous awards, including being named Administrator of the Year for the Dallas County Community College District in 1983, Outstanding Centennial Alumnus in the College of Education at New Mexico State in January 1988, and Presidents Hall of Honor for Phi Theta Kappa in 2002.
