A&M–COMMERCE NEWS

COMMERCE Texas A&M University-Commerce students will be showing their artwork at the Annual Student Awards Exhibition Tuesday, March 3, through Wednesday, March 25, in the University Gallery.

The students' work on display will include painting, prints, video art, and photography.

An opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gallery, Room 105, of the Main Art Building. The public is invited.

Distinguished Juror for the show is A&M-Commerce Department of Art graduate Robyn O'Neil of Houston.

O'Neil received her B.F.A. from A&M-Commerce in 2000 and her M.F.A. from the University of Illinois, Chicago.

In 2006, the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston organized her first one-person museum survey, which traveled to the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and the Frye Art Museum in Seattle.

O'Neil has been included in many prestigious group museum exhibitions, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, as well as the 2004 Whitney Biennial.

In 1999, she was awarded the DeGolyer Grant by the Dallas Museum of Art, and in 2005, she received an Artadia Grant from the Artadia Foundation-The Fund for Art and Dialogue in New York, N.Y.

Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell.
