Federal prison sentences in area methamphetamine cases

TYLER — U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced that a 33-year-old Gilmer man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas. Christopher Dewayne Bunn pleaded guilty on May 26, 2009, to being involved in a conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced Tuesday to 97 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider.

On Jan. 27, 2009, Kono Adomin Williams, 29, of Fort Worth was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and Daniel Dorance Davis, 30, of Fort Worth, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for Misprision of a Felony. According to information presented in court, on Feb. 18, 2008, Williams and Davis were arrested in Kaufman County after the car Williams was driving and Davis was a passenger was stopped and found to contain about one-fourth pound of methamphetamine. They were also arrested on May 10, 2008, in Smith County when again, Williams was the driver and Davis was the passenger in a car found to contain one-fourth pound of methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed the two were actually delivering the methamphetamine to Bunn. Williams and Davis were indicted by a federal grand jury on July 1, 2008. Bunn was indicted by a federal grand jury on Jan. 6, 2009 and has been detained since his arrest on Feb. 6, 2009. The case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Section and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby.
