YANTIS — A woman authorities were seeking following the fatal shooting of her ex-husband was killed Friday by authorities in Northeast Texas.
Trooper Jean Dark, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said authorities located 47-year-old Kimberly McLarry at her home on Wood County Road 1858 near the town of Yantis. Dark said that McLarry approached officers in the home’s driveway with a revolver and was shot.
It was unclear whether McLarry fired at troopers, Dark said.
“She had just shot someone in the head and then pointed her weapon at troopers,” Dark said. “They felt threatened.”
Hopkins County Sheriff's Investigator Lewis Tatum reported that, “She fired on officers at the residence, her residence. Officers returned fire on her. She is deceased."
McLarry’s ex-husband, 55-year-old Robert McLarry, was shot once in the face, said Tatum. Dark said the man was shot at Mike’s Repair shop and residence about halfway between Yantis and Sulphur Springs on highway 154. Tatum said Robert McLarry was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where he later died. The couple divorced in 2006. Officers alerted Rains and Woods County officials to be on the lookout and she was tracked to the residence in Woods County.
Yantis is about 25 miles east of Lone Oak.
