Two pilots killed in Air Force jet crash near Wichita Falls

Associated Press

WICHITA FALLS Military authorities say two pilots have died in a jet crash at Sheppard Air Force base.

A high-altitude, supersonic T-38c Talon went down about 7:45 a.m. Thursday, a public affairs spokeswoman said. The plane was assigned to the 80th Flying Training Wing, which produces combat pilots for NATO.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

All Thursday flights at Wichita Falls' Municipal Airport have been canceled, a city official told the Wichita Falls Times Record News. The airport and Sheppard share runways.

Wichita Falls is about 135 miles northwest of Dallas.
