McKinney North runs away from Greenville Lions
Ronald Jones rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to help McKinney North roll to a 45-7 football victory over the Greenville Lions on Friday night.
Jones, who’s now topped the 1,400-yard rushing mark for the season, scored on dashes of 33, 16 and 30 yards as the 4-4 Bulldogs stayed in the running for a playoff spot in District 13-4A with a 3-2 record.
McKinney North will test Greenville Lions defense
Greenville’s defense will face another strong test when the Lions travel to McKinney on Friday to face the McKinney North Bulldogs in District 13-4A football.
McKinney North is averaging 38 points and 444 yards of total offense per game. The 3-4 Bulldogs have scored 40 or more points in four games, including victories of 48-45 over Lucas Lovejoy and 42-13 over Royse City, plus losses of 55-44 to Sherman and 59-48 to Prosper.
Davis leads Lions past McMurry with five touchdowns
It was a wild night on Saturday in Commerce as Texas A&M University-Commerce defeated its future Lone Star Conference football opponent McMurry University (1-6), 65-43.
Wylie East rolls past Greenville Lions
Wylie East freshman running back Eno Benjamin rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries to help the Raiders to a 48-6 District 13-4A football victory over the Greenville Lions on Friday night at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium.
Benjamin, who was recently promoted from the freshman team, ran for scores of 84 and two yards as the 4-3 Raiders moved up into a tie for first place following Lucas Lovejoy’s 56-42 win over Denison. Wylie East, Denison and now Wylie, a 38-24 winner over McKinney North, are tied for first place in 13-4A with 3-1 records.

Greenville Lady Lions in on 'Jam the Gym' night
The first annual “Jam the Gym” night in volleyball at the Lions Den was a success as the Greenville Lady Lions won 14-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 15-7 on Tuesday over the Denison Lady Jackets.
The visiting Yellow Jackets started fast in the first set as Nicole Swindell, Kaycie Hamilton, Harley Goodin and Sara Shumaker all had big service points.
Greenville Lions gearing up for Wylie East Raiders

That’s kind of the story for the Greenville Lions as they play their second straight District 13-4A football game at home on Friday night against a team from Wylie.
The 0-6 Lions, who lost 58-10 to the Wylie Pirates last Friday, will entertain the 3-3 Wylie East Raiders at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium. Like their crosstown rivals, the Raiders can move the football and score some points.
Wylie pulls away from Greenville Lions
Greenville’s Lions just can’t stop the Wylie Pirates.
The Lions, who lost 50-7 at Wylie last year, fell 58-10 to the Pirates in the football rematch on Friday night at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium.
Wylie quarterback Carsen Cook went 34-of-45 passing for 331 yards and two touchdowns as Wylie stacked up 520 yards of total offense, compared to 175 for the Lions.

Greenville Lions to recognize two new Hall of Honor athletes/coaches
The accomplishments of two stellar Greenville athletes who went on to become successful high school football coaches will be recognized on Friday night at the Greenville Lions football game.
Clell Davidson and the late Joseph Hamrick are to be included in the Greenville Hall of Honor. Both men were standout football players who played on national championship teams in college and served their country in World War II before becoming head football coaches and guiding their high school teams to district championships and playoff runs.
