No. 14 state-ranked Caddo Mills opened the volleyball playoffs with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-14 Class 2A bi-district victory over Whitewright.
“I thought we played very well,” said Caddo Mills coach Renae Whitaker.
Greenville Lions will end season against Sherman
Though they have an indoor practice facility, the Greenville Lions practiced out in the rain on Monday in preparation for the 2013 football finale on Friday at Sherman.
They practiced on the field turf at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium rather than in the protected Roy Q. Traylor Athletic Complex. It was part of Greenville coach Marvin Sedberry’s plan to get the Lions ready for the elements and for the Bearcats.

Texas A&M University-Commerce (6-3) couldn’t get going on offense against Angelo State (3-6) and turned the ball over on a crucial fourth down as the Lions dropped their homecoming football game, 25-20, on Saturday.
Long pass helps Denison pull away from Greenville
A 99-yard touchdown pass helped the Denison Yellow Jackets pull away from the Greenville Lions for a 64-14 football victory on Friday night.
The 6-3 Yellow Jackets secured a playoff berth with the victory and stayed in front in the District 13-4A race at 5-1.
Greenville Lions tune up for basketball opener
Greenville’s Lions tuned up for the upcoming basketball season by scrimmaging against Dallas Faith and Terrell on Saturday in the Lions Den.
Terrell outscored the Lions 36-32 and 36-18 in two halves of play and Dallas Faith was up 34-14 and 23-17 in the two halves.
