  • Lone Oak Lady Buffs making school history

      Lone Oak’s Lady Buffs will make school history when they face Crawford at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Austin.
      They’ll become the first team from Lone Oak to reach the University Interscholastic League’s state softball tournament at Red and Charline McCombs Field. Not only that, but the first team from Hunt County to advance to the state high school softball tournament.

  • Lone Oak Lady Buffs advance to state

      Lone Oak’s Lady Buffs took two games from Mount Vernon on Friday to earn their first trip to the Class 2A state softball tournament.
      The Lady Buffs, who lost Thursday’s opening game 5-3, bounced back to beat Mount Vernon 3-2 and then blanked the Lady Tigers 4-0 in the third and final game of the Region II-2A final series.
      Lone Oak, now 33-6 for the season, will advance to the state tournament on Wednesday at the Red and Charline McCombs Field in Austin.

  • Mount Vernon beats Lone Oak 5-3 in game one

      Mount Vernon’s Lady Tigers scored four runs in the sixth inning to overtake Lone Oak 5-3 in game one of a best-of-three Class 2A regional final softball series on Thursday.
      The loss snapped a 16-game winning streak for the eighth state-ranked Lady Buffs, who dropped to 31-6 for the season.
      Game two is set for 6 tonight, also in Grand Saline. Game three, if necessary, follows game two, also in Grand Saline. The winner of the series advances to the state tournament next week in Austin.

      The 30-5 Lone Oak Lady Buffs’ winning steak continues as they took game one of the best-of-three Class 2A regional semifinal softball series against Whitesboro on Thursday night.
      The classic pitchers’ battle ended with Lone Oak winning 1-0 off a home run by Kaylee Isenburg.
