  • Allyson Koger reaches.jpg Lions claim runner-up titles in Greenville tennis tournament

      Three Greenville Lions claimed second-place finishes at the Lions’ varsity tennis tournament on Friday.
    Allyson Koger and Emily Hobbs were second in girls doubles after beating teams from North Forney (8-5) and Forney (8-6). Koger and Hobbs lost in the finals to a Garland team, 6-3, 6-4.
      Greenville freshman Alyssa Sagun was second in girls singles. She beat players from Forney (8-2) and Crandall (8-5) before losing 6-4, 6-2 to a player from North Forney.

      A four-run fourth inning helped the Denison Lady Jackets to a 6-1 District 13-4A softball victory over the Greenville Lady Lions on Friday at Monty Stratton Field.

       Garrett McCain struck out 12 and drove in four runs to lead the Wylie East Raiders to a 18-0 district 13-4A baseball win over Greenville on Tuesday.
      The lefthander, who is committed to Oklahoma State, allowed four hits and two walks.
    McCain was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a triple and a single and the four runs batted in for the Raiders.

      The Greenville Lions edged the Denton Broncos 6-4 on Friday at John Mason Field in non-district baseball action.
      Travis Koger picked up the victory on the mound, allowing only one hit and one run in three innings while striking out three. Dylan Coleman, Press Alford and Chris Hazlett also pitched for the Lions.
      Travis and his brother Justin Koger led the Lions at the plate with three hits apiece.

  • A&M-Commerce men win at LSC tournament

    Texas A&M University-Commerce came out on top in a nail biting, back-and-forth game against Eastern New Mexico University that ended with senior Kameron Price sealing the 74-73 win in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference tournament with only nine seconds left.
