Four local football teams remain alive following the first week of high school playoff games.
Farmersville, Leonard, Boles and Fannindel are headed to the second round of the University Interscholastic League playoffs.
Farmersville, which knocked off Pilot Point 35-27 on Friday night in McKinney, will bring a 7-4 season record into its Class 2A Division I area playoff game against 8-3 Daingerfield. Daingerfield won its bi-district game over Eustace, 34-7.
The Daingerfield-Farmersville playoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium in Paris. The winner of that game advances to the regional round to play either Pottsboro or Redwater.
Leonard, a 43-36 overtime winner over Edgewood, advances to the 2A Division II area round to take on Blooming Grove at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Buddy Echols Field in Coppell. Leonard is 8-3 for the season and Blooming Grove is 7-4 following its 38-35 bi-district win over Jacksboro.
The Leonard-Blooming Grove winner advances to the regional round to play either S&S Consolidated or Tolar.
Boles, which earned a bye with its District 8-A championship, opens the Class A Division I playoffs with an area game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Burleson Stadium in Burleson. The 9-1 Hornets will face 10-1 Hico, a 77-30 winner over Kerens.
The Boles-Hico winner moves on to the regional round to play either Italy or Collinsville.
Fannindel, now 11-0, advances to the six-man Division I regional round to face 6-5 Aquilla at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Trojan Field in Trinidad. Fannindel won its bi-district game, 54-48, over Apple Springs. Aquilla whipped Coolidge, 64-38.
The Aquilla-Fannindel winner moves on to the state quarterfinals to play either Oakwood or Abbott.
