Bradshaw, TCU visit Puerto Vallarta

GREENVILLE —   Former Rains Ladycat Klara Bradshaw spent the Thanksgiving holiday away from her family’s residence on Lake Fork.

But Bradshaw and the Texas Christian University women’s basketball team picked a good spot to be on the road for a tournament: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. TCU went 1-2 during the Hardwood Tournament of Hope, beating Florida Gulf Coast 68-47 on Tuesday, then falling 57-52 to South Dakota State on Wednesday and 75-68 to Purdue on Thursday.

Bradshaw, who is a 6-6 freshman, scored nine points and had three rebounds in the win over Florida Gulf Coast. Bradhaw managed four points, five rebounds, a blocked shot and an assist against South Dakota State and nine points and four rebounds against Purdue.

TCU, now 4-3 for the season, returns to Fort Worth for a home game on Wednesday night against Stephen F. Austin.

Caddo Mills-ex Nathan Jeffery rushed for 47 yards on 14 carries during Texas El-Paso’s 45-3 football loss last week to Tulane.

Jeffery, who is a 6-0, 200-pound junior running back, ranks second on the team in rushing for the season with 392 yards and three touchdowns on 113 carries. Jeffery’s caught two passes for 23 yards and one touchdown.

The 2-9 Niners will close out their season today at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Former Commerce Lady Tiger Danielle Essix earned second-team honors for East Central (Okla.) on the All-Great American Conference Volleyball Team. Essix, who is a 5-8 senior, made the team as an outside hitter. She led the 12-19 Tigers with 296 kills and 372 digs for the season to go with 34 blocks, 40 assists and 30 service aces.

Yakira Essix, Danielle’s older sister, served as a graduate assistant coach at East Central this season under head coach Dave Thorn.
