Dallas Triple A ends Celeste's playoff run

FORNEY —   No. 17 state-ranked Dallas Triple A Academy ended No. 25 Celeste’s climb up the girls basketball playoff ladder, beating the Lady Devils 63-44.

The third quarter was Celeste’s undoing as Triple A outscored the Lady Devils 26-15.

“They ran a half-court trying to trap us and we just turned the ball over,” said Celeste coach Amy Herron. “They got a good lead on us and it went away from there.”

Celeste finished the season at 27-7, while 25-5 Triple A advances to the regional quarterfinals to face either Avery or Itasca.

“I’m very proud of them,” Herron said of the Lady Devils. “We had just a great season. We won three tournaments. Second in our district. Made it two rounds of the playoffs.”

Morgan Lewis led Celeste in its final game with 21 points. Jessica Turnbaugh was next with six points.

Triple A spread the scoring around among Imari Bell (21), Keesha Bracy (20), Amber Browning (11) and Gabrielle Gregory (11).
