Greenville Lions silence Dallas Thunder, 83-50

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Lions took control in the second quarter of an 83-50 victory over the Dallas Thunder Blue Team in non-district basketball on Tuesday in the Lions Den.

  Collen Wilburn and Brad Mulkey both fired in 17 points for the Lions. Wilburn hit three 3-pointers.

Jerry Dickeson pumped in 12 points and John Franklin also tallied 10 for Greenville, which is now 3-2 for the season.

  “Great game tonight and proud of our defense,” said Greenville coach Marcus Smith. “Better offensive ball movement tonight. We were very aggressive and we played as a team.”

  Dallas Thunder took its only lead of the evening 2-0 on a basket by Luke Demetrition and then Greenville scored eight in a row as Justin Wade hit a 3-point basket, followed by a Brady Mulkey basket and a Marlon Mack 3-pointer.

  Greenville then outscored the Thunder 27-13 in the second period to build a 47-24 halftime advantage.

  Dennis Robinson fired in 16, while Ryan Bray added 13 for the Thunder, which is 6-3 for the season.

  Greenville will take a break for Thanksgiving. The Lions will return to action at home on Tuesday against Princeton with the varsity contest starting at about 7:30 p.m.

  Malcolm Fragosa led the victors with 19 points, while Trey Smith pumped in 13 and D’Lance Sharp added 11.

  EMORY — No. 19 state-ranked Alba-Golden handed the Rains Ladycats a 58-42 loss on Tuesday.

Macie Arrington fired in 21 points to lead the victors, who also collected 18 from Caitlin Lennon.

  Carley Hill led Rains with 10 points and eight rebounds and Shye Meador-McCray added nine points.
