Caddo Mills wins Lone Oak baseball tournament

  LONE OAK — Caddo Mills outscored Lone Oak 12-7 in the championship game of the Lone Oak baseball tournament on Saturday.

  Hayden Green went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the victorious Foxes and Cody Nitson had two hits, including a double.

  Jordan Ryan led Lone Oak with two hits.

  SADLER — S&S Consolidated down Bland 11-2 in the championship game of the S&S softball tournament on Saturday.

  Bland managed only four hits, one each by Savannah Brixey, Chelsea Medcalf, Morgen Gann and Sara Waidelich.

Cooper (girls) 3

  LONE OAK — Lone Oak’s Lady Buffs beat Cooper three times in two days in softball.

  Lone Oak won 6-4 on Friday as Chelsea Rigsby took the mound win and also slugged back-to-back homers.

  Lone Oak swept Cooper 11-5 and 13-3 in a doubleheader on Saturday. Rebecca Schumann picked up the mound win in the first game of the doubleheader and McKayla Dickey was the winner in game two.

  Lone Oak, now 4-1 for the season, will entertain Sunnyvale on Tuesday.

Mildred (girls) 1

  MALAKOFF — Mary Moran struck out 14 as the Caddo Mills Lady Foxes claimed a 5-1 victory over Corsicana Mildred at the Malakoff softball tournament on Saturday.

Kristen Maxwell led Caddo Mills at the plate in that game with a double.

  Caddo Mills also lost 8-1 to Elkhart on Saturday. Jacie Thomason scored the lone run for Caddo Mills with a homer.

  Caddo Mills opened the tournament on Thursday with an 11-1 win over Kaufman as Moran pitched a no-hitter.

  Caddo Mills also downed Malakoff 7-3 on Thursday. Jamie Maxwell doubled for the Lady Foxes.

Quinlan Ford 5

  EUSTACE — Venus clipped Quinlan Ford 9-5 on Saturday in the third-place game of the Eustace baseball tournament.

  Bryce Evilsizer led Ford at the plate, driving in three runs.

  Mabank slipped past Ford 11-10 in the semifinals.

  James West drove in four runs for Ford in that game and Evilsizer drove in three.

  CELESTE — Celeste blanked Campbell 6-0 and downed Honey Grove 6-2 on Saturday at the Sam Rayburn wood bat baseball tournament.

  Celeste pitchers Gavin Corley and Jordan Wright combined on a one-hitter and 11 strikeouts in the win over Campbell.

  D.J. Jarrard and Justin Bennett combined on a one-hitter against Honey Grove and struck out eight batters.

  Bennett, Jordan Wright and Austin Shatto all had two hits for Celeste against Honey Grove.
