Nathan Jeffery closed out the football season on a big note for the Texas-El Paso Miners.
Jeffery, who is a 6-0, 200-pound junior from Caddo Mills, rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries during the Miners’ 48-17 loss in the season finale to Middle Tennessee last weekend in Murfreesboro. Jeffery scored on runs of 3 and 1 yard. His longest run went for 55 yards.
Jeffery wound up as 2-10 UTEP’s second-leading rusher for the season with 532 yards and five TDs on 133 carries. He’s now rushed for 1,595 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career on 343 carries. Last year he ran for a team-high 897 yards on 184 carries.
Rains-ex Klara Bradshaw blocked three shots during Texas Christian University’s 60-52 basketball victory over Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night in Fort Worth. She also scored four points.
Bradshaw, who is a 6-6 freshman, has blocked 12 shots this season for the 5-3 Horned Frogs. She’s averaging 7.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
TCU’s next scheduled game is on Dec. 15 in Fort Worth against Texas-Pan American.
