The Boles Hornets will look to senior Hunter Jordan for another big game tonight as they take on the No. 22 state-ranked Trenton Tigers in the third round of the basketball playoffs.
The Class A Division I regional quarterfinal is set for 7 p.m. at Princeton High School. The winner advances to the regional semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday in Abilene against either Poolville or Stamford.
Jordan is averaging 33 points per game in the playoffs after firing in 36 points in a 64-53 bi-district win over North Hopkins and 30 in a 56-54 area victory over Lindsay.
Boles battled back from a 20-8 deficit in the first quarter to beat Lindsay.
“We overcame adversity and that first quarter deficit,” said Boles coach Stephen Wilson.
Cameron Walker also tossed in 10 points against Lindsay and Caleb Samples added six.
Walker finished with egiths points against North Hopkins and Ross Bostick added seven.
Trenton won its area playoff game over Collinsville, 55-51. The Tigers earned a first-round bye in the playoffs after claiming the District 15-A title.
On the way to that district title, the Tigers beat Boles twice, but not by much, winning 61-57 in Trenton on Jan. 8 and then 57-55 at Boles on Feb. 5.
Boles is 22-7 for the season while Trenton is 21-12.
Lane Henderson, a 5-10 sophomore, leads Trenton at 17.4 points per game. Henderson is shooting .356 from 3-point range, hitting 72 of 202.
Alex Meyer, a 5-11 senior, averages 10.9 points for Trenton and is shooting .335 from 3-point range (53 of 158).
Bailey Burks, a 5-10 junior, and 6-2 senior Dylan McCarley are both averaging 9.2 points for Trenton. Burks has hit 39 3-pointers.
