LUCAS, Texas — The Royse City Bulldogs dropped their final road game of the football season versus Lucas Lovejoy 44-9 on Friday night.
Royse City (1-8, 1-5) and Lovejoy (6-3, 4-2) went back and forth throughout the early minutes of the first quarter, with the Bulldogs drawing first blood on a 3-yard touchdown run by Jackson Watts.
Royse City scored its final points of the game off a 35-yard field goal by Blaine Hickman, which put the Bulldogs up 9-6 near the end of the first quarter.
Lovejoy took advantage of a Royse City turnover midway through the second quarter as Dan Sefcik put it in from a yard out, and a Lovejoy field goal before the half had the Bulldogs down 24-9 going into intermission.
Royse City suffered yet another turnover late in the third quarter with a fumble on a kickoff return, and Lovejoy once again took advantage with a 36-yard strike from Dakota Michaels to Cochy Luce to put the Leopards ahead 34-9 heading into the final quarter.
Lovejoy capped off an 80-yard scoring drive on a 13-yard pass from Michaels to Luce, and a 32-yard field goal by Mick Ellis all but sealed the win for the Leopards.
