Greenville’s Lady Lions get second district win, beat Denison

GREENVILLE — Getting a win in their second District 13-4A volleyball game, the Greenville Lady Lions beat Denison Friday night, 25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14.

Maygan Bloyed, Jenni Hardaway and Mackenzie Cooper dished out the kills with nine, eight and seven respectively.

Bloyed had four aces and Kali Moyer three.

Assist leader was Kali Moyer with 16.

Maddy Crabtree led in digs with 19, followed by Arian Alford with 15.

Bloyed had four aces and Moyer three.

Blocking were Cooper with seven, Bloyed with five and Savannah Hines with five.

The junior varsity beat Denison, 25-21, 26-24.

The Lady Lions are 2-1 in district and will face Wylie at home beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.



Detroit takes volleyball

win over Cumby

CUMBY — The Detroit Lady Tigers beat the Cumby Lady Trojans Friday night on Cumby’s home turf, 26-24, 25-18, 27-25.

Grace Campbell led the Lady Trojans with nine points, followed by Candice Horrocks with seven.

Breanna Gay had nine kills and Karli Emmons had 12 assists.

Detroit also took the junior varsity game, 26-24, 21-25, 25-14, with Taylor Petty getting nine points for Cumby.

Cumby now has a 14-8 record on the season, and takes on at home Blue Ridge beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday with the junior varsity.
